Our Drop-off Partners
Please email us before dropping off a wild animal at one of our designated drop-off locations.
We accept only wildlife species which we can care for in Summerland.
Our facility is purpose-built to care for small mammals such as beavers, porcupines, badgers, bats, skunks and marmots. We also have housing and resources for reptiles such as turtles, as well as water birds including herons, swans, geese, ducks, loons, seagulls.

Our mentors

The Langen family at the Northern Lights Wildlife Shelter in Smithers run one of the longest-standing modern rehabilitation facilities in our province. They saw the need for a wildlife shelter in the Bulkley Valley, Northern BC and are now looking at a wealth of knowledge and experience they have collected over the past 30 years. The Langen's specialize in the care of bears and ungulates and are leaders in successful black and grizzly bear rehabilitation.
Together we promote the coexistence of wildlife in our neighbourhoods, so injured and orphaned animals don't just have euthanasia as their only option.
Our friends

The Rehabilitation Team at the BC Wildlife Park in Kamloops has a fully equipped veterinary facility located in Kamloops, BC. This facility cares for a wide range of species, including songbirds and raptors (which IWRS does not have resources for). Each year, over 400 animals are admitted and a highly dedicated team of staff and volunteers take care of wildlife patients.

SORCO is located near Oliver, BC, a facility dedicated to rehabilitating injured and orphaned birds of prey/raptors. SORCO services the entire Okanagan Valley and West Kootenays. SORCO has a large eagle flight pen and can provide conditioning for wild raptors prior to release into the wild again. They care for about 100 raptors annually. To reach out, call: 250-498-4251
