Raptors
RAPTOr first aid
When do raptors need help?
Raptors such as owls, hawks, osprey, vultures and eagles are “birds of prey”. At our facility in Summerland we do not have housing for raising baby raptors or conditioning adult raptors which hunt “on the wing”. We can stabilize an injured raptor under certain circumstances, but we do not have large raptor flight pens. Once stable, we will transfer to other licensed rehabilitation centres that are equipped with raptor-specific outdoor housing these birds need to get fit for hunting and survival in the wild again.
If you have found a grounded, entangled, bleeding or poisoned raptor unable to stand or walk, please email us for further direction on next steps BEFORE collecting the bird. We may coordinate direct drop-off at a licensed wildlife centre that has housing available specifically for raptors in Oliver or in Kamloops.
We stabilize raptors for transfer
